Combining a transmitter, decoder, amp, preamp, and streaming media player in one, the R7 All-in-One Desktop Hi-Fi Streaming Player & Amplifier from FiiO in white lets beginners and audiophiles alike create their own desktop Hi-Fi system. With a plethora of front and rear inputs, the R7 is the centerpiece of your modular system. Add headphones, active speakers, music storage, and even a DC power supply. Sized like a bookshelf speaker, the R7 can be managed in a few ways, including a built-in 5" HD portrait touchscreen running Android 10 OS. However you get your music into or through the R7, an array of high-end internal components will work to make sure the final output is a clean, high-fidelity audio signal that's part of a robust soundstage.

Multiple Connections

A wide variety of inputs and outputs on the front and rear of the R7 allow you to use it as the centerpiece of an expanding, modular Hi-Fi system of your own design. It can support a host of audio connections, a USB-A port has host functionality for optional hard drives or interfaces, such as the KB1 keypad, and a microSD slot supports up to 2TB cards, to name a few.

• Rear Connections: Two RCA (in), one optical (in and out), one coaxial (in and out), two 3-pin XLR balanced (line out), one USB-C, one USB-A, one Ethernet, and a microSD card slot.

• Front Connections: One 6.35mm headphones, 4.4mm balanced headphones, and 4-pin XLR balanced headphones.

3 Ways to Control

The most obvious way of controlling the R7 and how it manages connected devices is through the built-in 5" HD portrait touchscreen. This screen provides an intuitive GUI that's based on the Android 10 OS, so you can enjoy a variety of 3rd party apps, including those from popular streaming services. A second method is using your mobile device loaded with the FiiO Music app. The third option is not available at the time of this writing, but FiiO plans to release an optional Bluetooth remote control in the future.

Output Selection Knob

As you expand the R7, you don't have to worry about plugging and unplugging accessories that you want to use. Leave them all connected and use the front-mounted output selection knob to choose which items get activated by the R7.

• PO: Only the front audio outputs are active.

• LO: Only the rear audio outputs are active (fixed at maximum output).

• PRE OUT: Only the rear audio outputs are active (with adjustable volume).

• PO + PRE OUT: The default selection that has both front and rear outputs active with adjustable volume.

Multiple Audio Modes

• Android Mode: Use 3rd party apps, such as streaming services.

• Pure Music Mode: An exclusive FiiO mode for more immersive music.

• USB DAC Mode: Improve the sound of any connected PC or mobile device.

• Bluetooth Receiver Mode: Stream high-quality audio through the R7. Supports AAC, SBC, and LDAC.

• AirPlay Receiver Mode: Wirelessly connect an Apple iOS device to boost its sound quality. Please note that this feature works with AirPlay 1 and not AirPlay 2.

• Roon Ready Mode: Gain an ergonomic player in seconds via the R7's Roon Ready certification.

• Coaxial/Optical Decoding Mode: Decode audio from connected components.

AC and DC Power

Built into the R7 is a 30W switching power supply that supports the use of external 12V/3A DC power supplies. The AC circuit offers filtering and purification with a large-capacity choke and dedicated high-voltage capacitors, while the DC circuit has a +/-12V high-voltage design. It also offers the following features:

• Twelve 470uF tantalum capacitors to regulate and purify power and reduce noise.

• A metal cover locks the transformer to the main power supply board to reduce jitter and stabilize sound.

• Each stage of the audio circuit employs ultra-low-noise LDOs for voltage regulation and stable, clean power.

Hi-Fi Internal Components

Whether you play audio from the R7 or use it to make other device's audio better, it does this with high fidelity thanks to a host of high-end internal components.
