FiiO Q3 MQA Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier

 

The Q3 MQA Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier from FiiO offers high-fidelity audio on the go, giving the listener a multitude of features that bolster the listening experience—including full MQA decoding. Compact and lightweight, the unit offers AKM's AK4452 DAC chip for audiophile performance on the digital conversion side. On the amp side, the unit provides two THX AAA-28 chips to deliver pure, undistorted, high-quality sound.

Able to handle PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit, the Q3 MQA uses an XMOS XU316 controller chip that also lets you listen to DSD files up to DSD256. Plug in via an aux-in jack, or connect over USB Type-C. You'll have the ability to drive 3.5mm unbalanced headphones, as well as 2.5 or 4.4mm balanced phones. Two gain settings are available, along with a selectable bass boost to tailor the sound to your liking. Power is supplied by the built-in rechargeable battery, or the USB Type-C port when you're connected to a computer.

The device sports an elegant rounded design with an analog potentiometer for the volume control. An RGB indicator on the volume knob shows you the sample rate playing at any time. The battery can easily last 12 hours when using the USB input, and over 23 hours when using the aux input. The Q3 MQA ships with a dual USB Type-C head cable, a Lightning to Type-C cable for iOS devices, a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, two antiskid feet, a 3.5mm line cable, and a strapping kit that attaches the device to your phone.

 

Meticulously Designed for Brilliant Portable Sound

• The Q3 MQA is equipped with the next-generation XMOS XU316 controller chip, among the latest for use in USB DACs. The XU316 features 16 cores made in an advanced manufacturing process, bringing high-performance processing and allowing it to support up to PCM 384 kHz / 32-bit and DSD256 high-resolution formats.

• The powerful chip supports MQA technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording.

• Due to the disrupted supply of AKM DAC chips, the Q3 MQA employs the AKM AK4452. Through numerous adustments, the the chip was tuned so that its perfomance is similar to that of the DAC in the original Q3 and with even slightly improved power output.

• Two THX AAA-28 amplifiers allow for a maximum output of 330mW for hugely powerful, extraordinary sound.

 

Dual-Power-Supply Design and Redesigned Strapping Kit

• Comfortably use the Q3 MQA is any scenario, whether as a portable device or a static device on your desk. Quickly switch between how the unit is being supplied using the Charge switch on the bottom. When using the aux input, the battery life is 23+ hours. When using the USB input the battery life is 12+ hours. The Q3 MQA supports UAC 1.0 mode, convenient for devices like the Switch.

• The redesigned strapping kit bundles the unit to your phone with X-shaped straps that won't block the display on your phone. Intermediate films protect your device and prevent the Q3 MQA and your phone from becoming misaligned when strapped together.
