FiiO K5 Pro DAC and Headphone Amplifier

The K5 Pro DAC and Headphone Amplifier from FiiO is a high-performance headphone amplifier and USB DAC that features coaxial, optical, and RCA line inputs, and 1/4" headphone and RCA line outputs. It can be used as a bridge for several music playback devices allowing your computer, speakers, and headphones to work together delivering an emotional experience with realistic detail from your music.

The K5 Pro has a gain switch to adapt to low, medium, and high gain levels to work with a wide variety of headphones. The DAC supports decoding up to 768 kHz and also performs hardware native DSD decoding. You can take advantage of digital audio through the optical and coaxial inputs, which support up to 192 kHz signals for connecting various music players and digital interfaces.

With the K5 Pro, you can experience realistic details and plenty of emotions from your music. It acts as a bridge allowing your computer, speakers, and headphones to work together in transporting you to a concert hall right from your desktop.

Naturally Gifted at Decoding

The K5 Pro's clock management and overall decoding performance is improved compared to the previous K5 model. This is due to the XMOS XUF208 USB decoding chip with an updated clock matching management system. It supports decoding up to a sample rate of 768 kHz and hardware native DSD decoding.

Faithful Reproduction of Music with Coaxial and Digital Inputs

No matter what audio equipment you use, the K5 Pro allows you to take advantage of digital audio with optical and coaxial inputs supporting up to 192 kHz inputs. This is convenient for connecting various music players and digital interfaces.

AKM AK4493 DAC

Thanks to the high-performance AKM AK4493 DAC with 32-bit processing and Velvet Sound technology, along with the XMOS USB decoding chip with 768 kHz and DSD inputs, the K5 Pro delivers natural sound quality. The left and right audio channels are independently handled with full differential audio output. It offers a high level of resolution so you can hear every element in your music.

Four-Level Audio Architecture

The K5 Pro packs a four-level audio circuit: second-order LPF + analog volume adjustment + voltage amplification + current drive. Each part of the amplification circuit works together in harmony for a natural dynamic range and high resolution of sound.

Precise Volume Control

The NJRC NW1195A analog volume adjustment chip features an ultra-low output noise of -118 dB and is able to adjust volume by 0.5 dB per step. When paired with the TI TPA6120 op-amp and the OPA1642 JFET op-amp, the K5 Pro provides a smooth high-resolution sound.

Robust External Power Supply

The K5 Pro uses a DC 15V power supply that is designed to minimize noise. The incoming DC power is filtered with a secondary power supply. This independently supplies power to the amplification part of the audio circuit and the rest of the circuit. This suppresses power-supply ripple and minimizes crosstalk between the two major sections of the circuit, delivering more stable and less noisy power.

ADC Volume Adjustment

Through the reconstruction of the ADC curve, the K5 Pro's volume control allows you to adjust volume at extremely fine increments without any noise or any channel imbalances. You can comfortably use various headphone with all kinds of sensitivities.

Finely Textured All-Aluminum Body

The all-aluminum body is repeatedly polished with CNC and is then finished with anodizing and fine sandblasting for a smooth and finely-textured shell. It is compact, robust, and doesn't take up much space on a desktop.

Large Volume Knob with Sample Rate LED

The one-piece, all-metal, over-sized volume knob is integrated within the aluminum front panel and allows you to easily control volume. The RGB light indicator surrounding the volume knob lights up with different colors according to the current sample rate. It gives a lively splash of color that complements the minimalism of the rest of the K5 Pro.

Getting Precise with Toggle Switches

Both the input selection and gain are controlled by tactile toggle switches and are clearly labelled so you can easily control your music. There are three gain levels: low 0 dB, medium +6 dB, and high +10 dB. There are three input modes: USB DAC, SPDIF in, and line in.

Powerful Headphone Amplification

The carefully tuned feedforward amplifier circuit design increases the power output of the TPA6120 op-amp by more than 60% for a total output power of up to 1.5W under a 32 Ohms load and up to 20 Vpp at 300 Ohms. The K5 Pro easily handles any low- or high-impedance headphones.

Stereo RCA Input and Output

The K5 Pro also features a traditional analog RCA line-in for use with an analog source device. The RCA line-out line signal is adjustable up to a maximum of 2 Vrms. This means you can use the K5 Pro for a variety of active speakers and external amplifiers.

Note: When using the line out, please disconnect your headphones.

The Companion for Your Player

Using FiiO's customized Type-C to USB Type-B cable (sold separately) to connect the K5 Pro with the DK1 dock (Type-C version; also sold separately), the K5 Pro helps your music player achieve lossless decoding and provide enhanced headphone power. Since the unit is powered by a DC adapter, it would not consume power from the USB port.
