The HERO9 Black boast a new design and significant upgrade in resolution for stills and videos, battery, stabilization, and more. Of course, it is still a rugged camera with up to 10 meters water resistance.
Coming from the HERO8 Black with 12MP photos, the new HERO9 Black can now shoot up to 20MP stills. The killer feature? It now shoots up to 5K resolution videos at 30fps. The device also has the ability to shoot up to 4K 60fps and below.
Also, the front lens cover is back and there is an option to try the "Max Lens" mod for a wider frame and horizontal leveling regardless of the camera's orientation. Aside from the Max Lens, it also supports the Display Mod, Media Mod, and Light Mod.
It also boasts the next-generation HyperSmooth 3.0 video stabilization with in-camera horizon leveling, Timewarp 3.0, Webcam mode, up to 8x Slo-Mo up to 240fps, and more.
The camera also has 3 microphones in total with advanced wind noise reduction. It also supports voice control with 14 commands available in 11 languages and 6 accents.
The company also improved on the screen as its front display now offers a full color panel for previewing shots. The back 2.27-inch back touch screen is bigger than the 1.95-inch of the previous gen Black.
For battery, it sports a removable 1,720mAh cell that is 40 percent bigger than the HERO8 for up to 30 percent more battery life.
HERO9 Black reflects our commitment to delivering what our customers have been asking for, including more value for their money, said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO. HERO9 Black is a beast of a product. And, reducing as much plastic as possible from our business is a priority for us. We’re excited to package HERO9 Black in a high-value travel case instead of traditional wasteful packaging, and we’re committed to doing the same with the rest of our cameras by the end of 2021.
